A Beautiful Glass Charm!

Lately, I've noticed that our animal style glass charms are very popular. Our customers seem to really enjoy Doug's Leopard Spots, Tiger, and this bead in the photo, a Zebra Marble. I really enjoy these also since they are so unique.

The Zebra Marble glass charm is in our Custom Order part of our store. It can be made either to fit a Pandora or Trollbeads bracelet or necklace. If you are not familiar with our custom order beads, then please read on and I'll explain how it works.

You simply pick the beads you want and before you put the bead in your “shopping bag,” just click in the box at the top of the page to choose which style you would like to have it made in, either for Pandora or Trollbeads. Doug makes these beads to have a core that is smaller for the Trollbeads chains and a little larger for the Pandora chains. He's quite accurate and you will find that his glass beads are a perfect fit.

The Zebra Marble is crafted from Italian glass. It a style that is very eye-catching, with it's black background and a bold zebra pattern on top. Glass beads like this one, will add individuality to your Pandora or Trollbeads jewelry.

What is the Difference Between Pandora Jewelry and Trollbeads?

Also, are they compatible with each other?

I thought today that I'd answer a few questions that I'm asked quite frequently. Trollbeads and Pandora charms are made by two different companies. Trollbeads bracelets and necklaces have a chain that is a little smaller in thickness than Pandora brand chains. They are also different in the way the charm attach to the bracelets.

For Pandora brand chains, they have a special threaded end. Each bead is also threaded on the inside. When you want to add more charms to a Pandora bracelet, you have to twist the bead onto the bracelet. The reasoning behind this concept is to ensure that the beads and charms won't slip off your bracelet accidently. I think this is quite a clever idea. For Trollbeads bracelets and necklaces there is no threading and the beads and charms simply slide on and off the bracelet. When I first got into this “hobby” Pandora was my first bracelet. Pandora's bracelets are quite study and thicker. Later, though, when I bought a Trollbeads bracelet, I really enjoyed the flexibility of their bracelet. The Trollbeads bracelet was also
made of high quality craftsmanship, and I loved the way it flowed and draped on my wrist. So there are good points to both brands.

Now, onto another question. Are they compatible with each other? Well, the simple answer is that all Pandora charms or beads will slide onto a Trollbeads bracelet or necklace. Trollbeads products will not fit Pandora brand chains. (Except for a few scarce beads I am told.) To add to this, there is also another brand named Chamilia, which is also of beautiful quality. Their charms are completely compatible with Pandora. They also have a great Disney line of charms, if you are into Disney characters.

Cleaning Tips for Silver Cores on Trollbeads and Pandora Style Beads

It's Spring Cleaning Time!

I wanted to pass on a little cleaning tip that I've found works wonderfully for cleaning the silver cores of our Pandora or Trollbeads style glass beads. This also works great on any beads that are solid sterling silver or solid gold. We always use a Jeweler's Rouge Polishing Cloth on all of our silver cores in our glass beads.

And before each glass charm is packaged, I give it one last polish before it is mailed. These cloths are an excellent cleaning tool and can often be found at your local jeweler. I do caution using them though on any area of silver that has been decoratively antiqued, as it may remove some of the dark decorative details. They also work well on polishing our Eagle Bay Designs' gold spacers.

To clean the glass on your Pandora or Trollbeads style glass charm, just take a little mild soap in water and use a cloth to wipe it clean. It will work wonderfully!
